It is great that in the modern age of cloth diapering we parents have so many options. You can cloth diaper your baby in prefolds, fitteds, all-in-ones, or pocket diapers. Closures can be Aplix or snaps. Materials can be organic or synthetic. There are endless combinations, and you can have all of them if you’d like!
When my daughter outgrew the Kissaluvs Fitted Diapers she used as a newborn (and believe me, they are great newborn diapers!), we decided to go with pocket diapers. There were several reasons we made the switch, one of which was the lining that would keep the wet insert away from her little bottom.
Because there were so many choices…
Because there were so many choices, we decided to try a few different brands of pocket diapers. Our favorites quickly became the bumGenius! 3.0 One Size Pocket Diaper and FuzziBunz size medium (they didn’t have the one-size yet, though these are now a favorite as well). There are a variety of reasons why these stood out, not least of which was the great way they each kept our daughter’s bottom dry despite having a wet diaper.
But one of the advantages of bumGenius! didn’t become apparent until our daughter started eating solids.
Yes, it has to do with number two.
You see, bumGenius! 3.0 One Size Pocket Diapers are lined with sueded fabric, instead of fleece like FuzziBunz and some others.
It’s all in how the poo “sticks”!
In my experience, the poo sticks a little to more textured fleece, while it comes right off the sueded material. Now don’t get me wrong, the fleece is still easy to clean, and if the poo is really solid it will roll right off whatever material happens to line the diaper, but the sueded material in the bumGenius diapers allows even the not-so-solid poo to roll right off in to the toilet.
Of course, there are times when really “loose number” two’s are impossible to dispose of without a little work, no matter what kind of diaper your child is wearing! For those situations, I have a diaper sprayer – certainly a must-have in our house; no swishing for me!
But even with the comparative ease of a sprayer, it’s even better if you don’t have to rinse the diapers off at all! I’m all for a quick roll into the toilet and then into the diaper pail. You might have to give the diaper a little shake, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how often I can get away with not even needing the sprayer at all.
There are certainly other things that I like about bumGenius! 3.0 One Size Pocket Diapers, but the suede lining has quickly moved to the top of my list of favorite features.
Not only does it keep our daughter’s bottom dry and feel “oh so soft” against her skin, but it also makes diaper changes easier!
And anything that makes my job of cloth diapering easier is naturally, a big plus in my book.

I have some bumgenius with fleece lining instead of suedecloth! I think they were limited edition though. we use them at night time.
I bought my stash of fuzzibunz 4 years ago when my first son was born. I recently bought 3 replacement diapers (some of the elastic was blown after 3 kids of use) and the new fleece on the FuzziBunz is much easier to clean and more stain resistent. I noticed that after a while, the fleece on the old fuzzibunz wasn’t as soft anymore and became a little pilly. The diapers still work great, but the old fleece holds on to the stains more. The new fleece isn’t staining at all and is staying softer longer. I have to say I do have some diaper envy when I see how nice some of the bumgenius diapers are (I have some friends who use them), but I love my FuzziBunz!!!
I have had the opposite experience; FB fleece is easier for me to spray off than the BG suedecloth. I try not to put BG on DD at the time of the “morning poop”. lol
I have a similar experience as Johanna. Suede cloth has been harder to clean poo off of & while it doesn’t stain to easily, I avoid it if I can until dd poops. I find my fleece lined diapers (or just fleece inserts) are easier to get poop off of w/out sticking.
That’s interesting that you all have had a different experience with the #2 diapers. Maybe it does have something to do with the newer type of fleece like Gloria was saying, or maybe it’s the age of my diapers. But the suedecloth really is easier for me! That being said, I do love my FuzziBunz, too!
I have recently started using cloth diapers ( Currently using Bumgenius) I was wondering if anyone switched from one brand for another one . I am happy with bumgenius but I do not use it when my daughter sleeps because she is a leaker when she sleeps .What is the best night diaper or is there a better way to prevent this from happening again?
I have found the best night time diaper to be my bumgenius with an extra hemp insert in it. Since we switched to the hemp no more leaking ever! I also love my mother-ease diapers!

The beauty of these blogging engines and CMS platforms is the lack of limitations and ease of manipulation that allows developers to implement rich content and ‘skin’ the site in such a way that with very little effort one would never notice what it is making the site tick all without limiting content and effectiveness.
I really enjoy reading Your website, I have bookmarked it. Hope that You will keep up with good job, your article was very interesting. I hope you have a nice day
