Great Expectations, Did cloth diapers meet or exceed yours?

anna

When expectation and reality collide, the outcome is likely to be one of three things: disappointment, satisfaction, or joy. One of my mentors once told me that “disappointment stems from unmet expectations” and I would have to agree. As I reflect on my most disappointing experiences in life, I can definitely pin-point what my expectations were. When I am disappointed and can’t figure out why, it is almost always because I had expectations that I wasn’t even aware of that weren’t met. … [Read more...]

How do you organize your “stash”?

stash-1-gif

Keeping an organized household is very important to me.  I need to have places to put everything.  Sometimes to a fault.  I know everyone has their own ideas of organization, and that is not as important to some as it is others, and maybe some don't care at all.  But, as I built my cloth diaper stash I needed to figure out how to best organize and store them.  The storage needed to be easily accessible, practical, and out of the way.  I didn't want to have the diapers everywhere. When … [Read more...]

Diaper Rite pockets are just right!

diaper-rite-2

Diaper Rite Pocket Review I can’t seem to resist a free diaper offer from Diaper Junction.  A month ago they offered one up, and I bit.  I love free diaper promotions, it’s always nice to get a little more for your money!  It also gives me the opportunity to try something I’ve never used before. I received a Diaper Rite pocket in the bright green Turtle color from the last promo. This was fun on a few levels- I don’t own many pockets, and barely any green diapers! As someone who … [Read more...]

Cloth Diapering, from a Dad’s point of view.

hubby & wife

I rarely ever take the time to write, or blog, or even e-mail for that matter, about anything let alone cloth diapering.  Clothing diapering is pretty amazing though, amazing enough that I’d take the time to write about it.  When my wife first told me she was pregnant I was ecstatic!  When my wife first told me she wanted to cloth diaper… I panicked.  I’m a bit stuck on the way things are for most people, and most people do not cloth diaper. A lot of the hesitation I had with cloth … [Read more...]

Kermit was totally wrong…

It is easy being green! My path to being green started with my research of cloth diapers.  Before my son was even born, I was loving getting the cute "fluffy mail", building my stash, and convincing my husband about cloth diapers. We used disposables and cloth in the very beginning while I recovered from my c-section.  I loved the softness of the cloth diapers, the feeling of saving money, and disliked the extra, stinky garbage, the crinkly paper feel of the disposables, and those little … [Read more...]

Cloth Diapering, Is it a Gateway to a Greener Lifestyle?

CDB Making Diapers Last 1

What started as a simple way to save money actually transformed my life. I love the color green, but never considered myself to be green or crunchy. I jumped into cloth diapering to save some green not be green. Something mysterious happened to me and my conversion began in November of 2009 when I became a cloth diaper junky. From the moment my sweet little boy had his bum covered in an oh-so-colorful cloth diaper I was addicted.  What started as a simple way to save money actually transformed … [Read more...]

A mother’s experience with Baltic Amber for natural teething pain relief.

jennifer amber

I enjoy making more natural choices for my family and especially my babies. I cloth diaper, breastfeed, and make my own baby food so when a friend told me about amber teething necklaces I had to try it out.  I was already accustomed to using teething tablets instead of over-the-counter pain relievers. I am on my fourth baby and had never heard of using amber before. I did a little research and found that amber is a resin not a stone. As a resin, the amber actually dissolves into the skin and is … [Read more...]
