Determining Cloth Diaper Size When it comes to buying clothes for your baby, purchasing the correct size is important. It was September when I potty trained my daughter and stopped using cloth diapers. Now, it’s December and when I peruse Diaper Junction or the Cloth Diaper Blog, I’m shocked that in just a few months time, there are so many new options out there. BumGenius has a new one size diaper called the “Free time diaper,” Diaper Rite has a one size pocket diaper (which I must confess that I purchased on Black Friday because I was curious and the price was right), and so many other diapers have … [Read more...]

My daughter is two years old now! It feels like moments ago that I held her for the first time and looked into her beautiful blue eyes. She is also capable of going pee pee and poopy on the … [Read more...]

It took me a while to find the best method of cleaning my diapers. I work full-time, and my daycare does use our pocket diapers, so I have to always make sure there are clean diapers ready to go in the morning. Some days it’s tough to do all this, get The Burrito fed and into bed, and get dinner on the table in order to have a reasonable bedtime myself. But I think I have a pretty good routine down. The cloth diapers: 18 pockets (mostly Thirsties Duo, 2 Kawaiis, 1 BumGenius, and 1 Bamboo … [Read more...]

Do you have water woes?

RLR

About six months into cloth diapering my son, out of nowhere, his Fuzzibunz and BumGenius started leaking. Everywhere.  Detergent buildup? You might think so, but we were using Crunchy Clean at the time, a detergent with no soaps that doesn't tend to leave residue.  Just in case, I did a Dawn strip.  No improvement.  What was going on? The answer came to us when I noticed a chalky white residue on our showerhead. Yup, we had hard water. We hadn't known this because our town's water … [Read more...]

What do I need 2

It can be staggering to think of making the paradigm shift from disposable diapers to cloth diapers when you think of all the things that are out there that you absolutely need in order to start successfully. The thing is, though, you don’t need most of those things—though many of them certainly make life as a cloth diapering parent easier. When I started shopping for cloth, looking at the list of these important things was dizzying to my head and to my budget: Travel wet bags Diaper … [Read more...]
