Cloth Diaper Essential Accessory: Mini-Shower Spray!

Cloth Diaper Essential Accessory - Mini-Shower Spray Wand

One of the most important cloth diaper accessories we own and use regularly in our home is the Mini-Shower Spray Wand. It has been such a useful and essential tool in making cloth diapering successful for us.

The mini-shower installs easily, without the use of heavy-duty plumbing tools, into the water line that carries fresh water from your wall into the toilet tank. The soaking and dunking method of cleaning soiled diapers can prevent the immediate use of your toilet. However, with the mini-shower spray wand you can easily remove solid waste from the diaper using the high pressured mini-shower. The solid waste from your baby’s diaper goes directly into the toilet and we have found it keeps our diapers from staining as much. When we travel we leave the mini-shower at home and we have noticed soiled diapers develop more stains without the mini-shower spray wand. After spraying soiled diapers, we squeeze out any excess water and then soak the diaper in Bio-Kleen BacOut.

The mini-shower was also helpful for me in the first few weeks post-partum for perineal care. It was very easy to use. It helped to reduce abrasion from toilet paper and the coolness of the water was soothing. Be sure, however, to use a lower water pressure setting for such sensitive areas. Though the handle does have some pressure control aspects to it, turning down the water pressure at the knob of your toilet (just below where the mini-shower connects) seems to be more reliable at water pressure control.

The one downside to the mini-shower for us was the hook mechanism for hanging the mini-shower on the side of the toilet. Unless this feature has been updated, this part of the mini-shower seems to be lacking. We installed two mini-showers in our home (one for upstairs and the other for downstairs) and both of the hangers did not last past a few months as they kept coming unscrewed. This feature, however, is not an essential part to its function and use. We just set the mini-shower down on the side of the sink or on the floor.

All-in-all, I would highly recommend the Mini-Shower Spray Wand to anyone who is wants to cloth diaper. It has been incredibly helpful and is more sanitary and effective than the dunk and soak method of cleaning soiled diapers.

  2. I won a sprayer in the Great Cloth Diaper Hunt, and am anxiously and impatiently awaiting its arrival. I can see how it will totally change things for me. Right now, the accessory I can’t live without is…I guess it’s the liners. I really like them. I also love my wet bags from Natural Baby Company.

  4. I am so excited to get one of these! I remember watching my mom dunk diapers in the toilet and thinking that was so gross! I wanted to use cloth diapers for our babies, and now I won’t have to dunk them!
