Cloth Diapering How-To’s: What about cloth diapers at night?

January 2nd, 2007

Cloth diapering at night with BabyKicks Hemparoo Joey BunzCloth diapering at night is basically the same as cloth diapering in the day - with a bit of added absorbency. Finding a night time cloth diapering system simply means fine-tuning the additional absorption your baby needs.

There are several ways to add absorbency to your night time diapering system; here are a few suggestions:

  • Use a diaper doubler like Joey Bunz. Joey Bunz are designed to be trim, absorbent and easy to use since there’s no folding. They are gently contoured to be comfortable for baby.
  • Use Chinese Prefolds and double diaper (yes, use two diapers at one time). Yes, it is bulkier, but it is an economical diapering choice and will keep baby dry.
  • Try a wool diaper cover. Untreated wool, like the Aristocrats Wool Soaker actually absorbs more than one third of its weight in moisture before it begins to feel wet.
  • Stay Dry Diaper Doublers combine additional absorbency with one layer of fleece that sits next to the baby’s skin. The fleece aids in keeping wetness away from baby’s skin and the terrycloth absorbs extra liquids for longer diaper durations or heavy wetters.
  • Pocket Diapers, such as the Fuzzi Bunz is a night time favorite. Fuzzi Bunz allows you to customize the absorbency of your baby’s diaper, between an outer waterproof shell and an inner fleece lining (the fleece rests against baby’s skin to wick away moisture and keep baby dry).
