"FEED YOUR STASH" Friday!

FEED YOUR STASH Friday: Bumkins Sample Kit!

At the pool this week I saw a Toddler waddling around the kiddie pool with a disposable diaper full to capacity with water. It looked like a giant tumor pulling on this little one’s bum; I felt so sorry for her.

As I watched her struggle to even walk in that thing I glanced at all the other children in the kiddie pool and considered the amount sodium polyacrylate gel that was likely falling off that disposable and floating about in the pool.

EEEEWWW!

I was thankful my children are now all of age to swim in the “big pool”.

That said, you can imagine how it brings me GREAT JOY to announce not one, but THREE WINNERS from last week’s “FEED YOUR STASH” Friday: Imse Vimse SWIM DIAPER Giveaway!!

Did you READ all the comments to last week’s entry question? BWAHAHAHA!

Here’s one that tickled the funny bone:

“My then-two-year-old son told me he had to pee. I pulled him out of the baby pool as fast as I could, but not fast enough. He dropped his drawers and peed right on the concrete, right in front of all the other moms.”

And then, I doubled over at Megan’s story:

“We just came back from an amazing trip to Jamaica. It was our first time traveling with Gavin (10 months) and his first time in the ocean. A friend gave us a pack of Little Swimmers that they hadn’t used so we thought we were set. So one lovely day we’re hanging out in the ocean, when my mom points to a piece of orange substance floating in the water. We then notice several more particles of all different shapes and sizes surrounding us. The area around us cleared quite quickly as people realized that they were swimming in my son’s feces! Awkward!”

Definitely AWKWARD. And hysterical. Megan, we aren’t laughing AT YOU; we’re laughing WITH you!

SO WHO ARE THE THREE WINNERS ALREADY?!

The three winners from last week’s “FEED YOUR STASH” Friday: Imse Vimse SWIM DIAPER Giveaway will receive one (1) Imse Vimse Swim Diaper each.

No more floaties!

THE IMSE VIMSE SWIM DIAPERS GO TO…

Congratulations to all three of you! Please watch for my email requesting all the necessary information for shipping!

  1. I have a Bumkins all-in-one flutter floral because it is so pretty! We also have a Bumkins waterproof bib because I’m pretty sure my daughter is the messiest eater on the planet.

  2. I don’t have any Bumkins products, but can I play anyway??? My son is four months old and I’m STILL trying to find the perfect cloth diaper…..I have a little of this and a little of that (I usually try to find whatever is on sale, because I’m afraid to sink a lot of money into something that I might not like). This site has been great in helping me on my way to a greener and healthier start for my little guy.

  10. We do not have any Bumkins in our cloth diaper stash yet, but we’re always looking to add something new! So far all we have are fuzzi bunz and prefolds with proraps.
We do, however, have Bumkins organic cotton hooded towels and washcloths. I can’t wait to use them. They are sooo soft!

  17. What an incredible package! The bamboo is particularly exciting. I believe I have a Bumkins cover in in my stash from about three years ago - it was a favorite because it was so cute (frogs). I’ll be breaking all of those out next month in anticipation of the new baby on the way. A few new items would be terrific!

  19. We had a Bumkins cover when Wiggles was tiny. It was the only one that fit! I liked its features, but since the other covers were softer, we favored those, and now we’re using pockets and some fitteds. I would love to check out the contour dipes, though! And summer is here - can’t have too many wetbags.

  23. I don’t have any Bumkins. Our daughter is just 9 days old and decided to start simple with prefolds and a few covers. I went with softer covers than the Bumkins but really haven’t done my research ion their other dipes.

  24. We had a Bumkin AIO and really loved it, but we got it used and the elastic lost it’s stretch. I couldn’t sew to save my life so we passed it along to someone who could. I would LOVE (and need) to try the new products!

    Comment # 24 | Posted by Heidi | May 29, 2009, 9:17 pm
  25. I have several AIOs that I bought in XL because my oldest daughter had a really hard time staying dry through the night for about a year after she was potty trained. Unfortunately for my son, they are in the prettiest prints ever and I get the evil eye from his Daddy every time I try to slip them on under his jeans :)

  29. As a struggling PhD student, I am trying to save money everywhere I can, and cloth diapering is one way I’m doing it! I am currently trying to build up a stash of diapers but have a ways to go. Was hoping to receive some as baby shower gifts– but no luck! Would be great to get these as I’ve seen great reviews for Bumkins!

  33. So far the only things we have used are Fuzzi Bunz and Chinese Pre-folds. I would love to try some of the other options out there but I just havent had the extra money to go out and experiment with different brands! Plus I have never tried AIOs so it would be awesome to try them out and see what they are all about. I really love all the cute patterns they have too, because the FBs are all solid colors it would be nice to throw in a little pizzaz!

  67. I don’t have any, but like many others, I’d love to try some new stuff. We’re prepping mentally for having to get some more diapers, as we’ve been depending on some ’sized’ and some one size fits all, and the sized ones are a few pounds away from being too small.

I had 1 Bumkins diaper cover when I first started CDing my youngest and it worked great, but then he hit the chunkies and can no longer wear it :) I love CD covers and have made my own fitted diapers, sooo wish I knew about the advances in CDs when I had my first. I did the whole fold a diaper, pin, and put on those horrible vinyl pants!

  75. I have one Bumkins diaper cover, which I bought second hand (just to try), though it’s brand new. (I’m new to CDing.) I got it along with some Chinese prefolds a few weeks ago. I also go a few bumGenius diapers at the same time. I have to admit that I got so caught up in the ease of the pocket diapers that I haven’t yet figured out the tricks of using the prefolds with the diaper cover. We have just moved and nothing is unpacked yet, but I plan on experimenting with my prefolds and Bumkins cover once everything’s unpacked. My boy is a massively heavy wetter, so we’ll see if the diaper cover can handle him! I’m excited about the cool products in the Bumkins giveaway package this week!

  84. I have the “blue circles” Bumkins dirty duds bag, “On the Go” diaper cover, “Blue squares” diaper cover, and “blue circles” diaper cover. I went with Bumkins because they had the cutest patterns! I’m about to order the Bumkins tote bag because the dirty duds bag isn’t big enough when we’re gone all day long. I’m switching to All-in-One diapers, but will keep a couple of the Bumkins diaper covers just in case I need them because they’re so cute!

  87. I use BumGenius, Pocket Change, Fuzzy Buns and Gro Baby but not yet Bumkins - would love to! If I win these I am going to share some of my stash with a friend who I am trying to convince to make the switch

  88. I have 3 very old Bumkins AIO’s. 2 are white and one is a very bright jungle print. They were used when they were given to me and quite honestly they scared me they looked soo old. I put them in the bottom use only in case of emergency. DH started using and we love them!! He says they are just as easy as disposables. I really would love to try some of the new ones considering they are dad approved!

  89. I am very new to cloth diapering, starting with my 13 month old just a month ago. However, I LOVE IT! I will definitely start with cloth for my next baby which my husband and I are planning in the near future. Unfortunately my budget for cloth diapers was small, and I had to choose the best “daddy/care giver friendly” diapers, so I went with pocket diapers. I love them, but I have been dying to try the contours and would love to try the bumkins. I have been really impressed with the variety of products they provide.

  91. I have a set of 5 Bumkins All in ones, but I haven’t used them yet… They are mediums, and my two month old is too small for them and my two year old is too big for them, they will soon fit my little one. They were a gift from my MIL, a sign that she is supportive of my CD habbit :)

  92. I have a friend that uses Bumkins and am about to become a Grandmother in a few months, so am looking into the Bumkins products and hoping to encourage the use of cloth diapers for my grandchild.

  94. I don’t have any Bumkins yet. I am new to cloth diapering. I’ve tried the Bum Genius which held everything in well but were quite bulky on my baby and the GroBaby which I really like so far. I love this store, the prices were competitive and the shipping was super fast. Thanks!

  95. I do not have any Bumkins products in our stash yet. I started off my stash with only one type of diaper (bG3.0 pocket diaper) and have slowly been adding different types to try. Currently, we have pockets, a single All-In-One, prefolds, and fitteds (with covers, of course), so I would LOVE to be able to try some contour diapers! We do however have a bumkins bib and, while it hasn’t gotten much use (yet; my baby is not on solids yet), it seems to be of very good quality!

  98. I don’t have any bumkins BUT I have been contemplating the bamboo fitteds (because they look comfy and I’m wondering if bamboo might help our rash problems). Looking at these over and over lead me to start thinking about buying some bumkins covers…. they are cute! I do hope I win….

  103. I don’t have any bumkins products yet as I am still pretty new to cloth diapering. I am loving it so far and am still trying to build my stash so I have enough to last more than 36 hours, haha! I’d love to try them :-)

  105. We don’t have ANY cloth diapering items yet! I’m researching and shopping around, planning on purchasing any day now. It’s such an overwhelming amount of information and everyone has their favorite products! I use washable training pants for my potty training daughter and washable nursing pads for myself- but I always thought that cloth diapering was too hard because of my mother’s (apparently outdated) stories, but I’ve always been intrigued. I’m amazed at how many people do it and how far it seems to have come over the years!

Thanks for the encouragement and information! I hope to be joining your ranks in the next couple of days!
