  1. Yes, my son goes to day care 3 days per week and his day care provider does use his cloth diapers.

  2. I have only had family members watch my son twice and they used disposable on him. I was worried they would be overwelmed by the snaps, however, while over my parents house for dinner the other night, my father volunteered to change the cloth diaper and did it perfect ly(he never volunteered to change my older son who wore disposables). I figure if my father can do it then anyone else who watches my son can do it as well! I just need to have a little faith!

  3. My daughter doesn’t go to day care but my mom will watch her once in awhile. We just started full on cd’ing this week but I know she will be on board next time she cares for her.

  4. right now it is just me and dh taking care of the children. before DS was born I worked at a daycare center where DD also went, however we didn’t start her in cloth until she was potty training…so she was only using a pocket trainer at night.
We do have a hand full of pockets and fitteds for whoever might watch him in the near future. Next week he will be with a sitter while we are at a wedding reception so that will be the first opportunity to see what others are comfortable with.

  6. My son goes to day care and they love his CDs. Church has no issues either. The larger day care center he went to in July refused to use the cloth, but they’re the only ones who had issues.

  8. Yes, my church nursery uses cloth diapers, as do grandparents and all other caretakers we might have for our kids. We provide a user friendly cloth diaper, typically a pre-stuffed BGOS, and a wetbag. No problems yet!

  14. I send my baby out in sposies - I usually don’t pay for babysitting, so I make it as easy as possible for whomever does it! However, my mom does give it a good college try when she stays with us, which I appreciate a LOT!

  25. I generally don’t have any caregivers watching my baby but this week my mom is in town visiting. I ran an errand and my mom had to change the baby while I was gone. I was surprised that she used a cloth diaper even though we still have some disposables on hand (we are switching over).

Not only that, but she taught me how to do a new fold so that I can use the bigger prefolds!

  34. When our parents come into town, they do use cloth. For church, we just tell the nursery workers that we’ll change them after we leave or to come get us if there’s a poopy. Some get daring and try — and then we hear, “It’s SO easy!!!” YES!!! IT IS! :-D

  37. We have no disposables in the house, so caregivers have no choice. :)

That being said, DS has some medical issues that mean we have nursing care 18 hours a day. All the nurses use the cloth diapers we have available - most of the day shift is older moms & grandmothers who have no issues with prefolds; some of the midnight shift nurses have been younger women without cloth experience. Fitteds and contours have been their staple diapers, along with an occasional pocket here and there.

  38. I do have a sitter that watches little man in her home while I work and yes she uses the cloth diapers. I think she would prefer the disposibles, but does what I want. She use to cloth diaper her babies, but likes the convience of disposables. But she thinks these are much cuter than when she had kids. (she’s a great grandma)

  52. My kids are not currently in daycare, but the have been in the past. The daycare center did not use the cloth diapers, but we did not ask. We were so overwhelmed by sending them to daycare that it didn’t cross our minds when we were visiting, however they are adamantly against PullUps type training pants (as were we) and dealt with the training underwear covers with no problem, so I can’t imagine they would be TOO against cloth diapers.

My mom was thrilled to try all the new cloth diapers that have come into existence since she cloth diapered me! She has also requested that I send one or two prefolds to her when my youngest outgrows them…apparently they are awesome cleaning cloths too!

  60. Our family is on board with using cloth when they watch our daughter. The only other time she’s in someone else’s care is in the church nursery. I don’t think they really like it, but they use them. I have to give new lessons every 6 months when the teachers rotate. We use BG’s so there really is no excuse to not use them since they are so easy.

  61. Nobody else changes our baby’s diaper. I’ve left him with my sis-in-law a couple times for only an hour or so, and although she would have changed him if it had been necessary, she’s kinda grossed out by cloth diapers.

  62. Our children (ages 2 and 2 months) both go to a licensed in-home daycare and luckily she is wonderful about using cloth diapers - several of the children there use them. Our parents, who care for them when we go out, will use them as well - they actually prefer them since my husband and I were cloth diapered as children as well.

  63. My youngest is only 7 weeks, so I haven’t left her in the church nursery. When I’ve left her it’s only been for an hour or so and we still have disposables leftover from baby gifts. I know my mom is fine changing cds as she used them with me, but I’m not sure about other caregivers.

  77. My mom watches my daughter, and she also spends about 60-90 minutes in the church nursery on Sundays. No one has had any issues with cloth diapers. My mom was always for them, and she has willingly learned about the new styles. The nursery staff was also great; one said she thought it was awesome, one is a friend of mine who wishes she could cloth diaper, but because her husband adamantly refuses, and he’s the main caregiver, she can’t, and the third is actually thinking of cding her new baby because of me!

  87. oh just the question I was waiting for!!! My MIL watches the kiddies for about 5 or 6 hours a day (M-F) and refuses to use the cloth diapers… (even though that is ALL she used with her kids) I can’t understand why she won’t I do when I am there and you would think she would see how much easier it is now but NOooooo… all I get is NEGATIVITY towards it… and comments like… oh, your momma has those crazy contraption diapers on you again, poor baby… and they think that because she cried when “I” change her that it is because of the cloth diapers… please she cries because I let her run naked in the house to air out between diapers!!! anyway, as an answer NO I am the ONLY one in the family who uses the cloth… everyone else out right refuses to change her diaper if it is cloth they send her to me!!! nice hey… anyway, I’m fine with that because heck it’s saving me money! LOL

  137. My daughter rarely has caregivers other than me and my husband. On the rare chance she does, I school them in the art of cloth diapering–not that it’s hard, but it can be daunting if you don’t realize how easy the new ones are. I also have a variety of different kinds of diapers so care givers can always just choose the easy ones with velcro–bumGEnius especially–if brands like Fuzzi Bunz or Knickernappies scare them.

  196. I don’t have anyone watch my son, but I do run a home daycare. I would love to have some cloth diapered kids, to bad there aren’t many here even in my natural parenting group.

  198. My daughters both go to the church nursery. The staff caring for my toddler is okay with cloth diapers and use my wet bags no problem, but the infant staff will not change her if I bring her in cloth.

  199. I have never asked my babysitters to use the cloth diapers. I use prefolds with waterproof covers and I know they can be alittle tricky for someone that is not used to them. So I have disposables for them to use instead.

  200. I have tried to get my daughter’s grandparents to use cloth diapers. I feel it is just no use. BUT any one else who has watched my daughter has used cloth. Some of them have said that when they have children of their own they will use cloth. Yea.

  202. So far, I am the primary care-giver. I think my mom would give it a go. I think my dad would rather watch the Green Bay Packers (he is a Minnesota Vikings fan), but I think he might be able to handle an all-in-one. :)

  205. I specifically chose a daycare that agreed to cloth diaper since most of the public daycares in my area will not use cloth. With a little training and some gentle reminders from time to time, they did pretty well with prefolds and covers and the occasional AIO with my first. Now that I’m expecting my second, I plan to do the same.

  206. I am a SAHM and currently use cloth diapers on my 9 month old daughter. We are going to move in with my in-laws and when they found out we used cloth diapers they started to give us the run around about how the washing machine is very loud. Ironically they have a brand new washing machine that is not loud at all!!!! I find it very inconvenient that we have to use disposable diapers ever time we go and visit. My daughter breaks out in them. I love our cloth diapers and wish people would have an open mind about them. My mother in law has also taken me to the laundry mat and watched me wash them because she was so against me washing them at her house!!

  207. When we have baby sitters, most of the time they do use cloth unless they are all dirty ;-)! But our 20 month-old son is mostly potty-trained and so they aren’t “messy”.

  218. My daughter doesn’t go to daycare but occassionally my sister or mom will watch her if I have somewhere to be. My sister is also a cloth diaper lover and has no problems using my diapers and we exchange stories and reviews of each others diapers all the time. Mom used cloth diapers for both of us so she is also quite used to the prefolds and pants but finds the new-fangled all-in-ones just amazing!

  219. At this point, I don’t have to have daycare for my daughter. However, at 18 months old, she’s getting to be a handful for me to take care of at work, and I’ll be having another little girl next month. Hopefully, I can find daycare close to home, and that they will use cloth diapers. I will not be providing sposies, so if that’s what they want to use, they’ll be buying them themselves. I think AIO’s or pockets will probably work best for daycare, with prefolds & fitteds staying at home. At least, that’s my humble opinion!

  226. Unfortunately our daycare provider does not use cloth diapers. They mentioned that they would use ours but that they would not rinse them out just take them off and put them in a bag. Family who watch our son have said they would use and rinse out cloth diapers.

  227. My husband and I take turns, we work opposite schedules and he watches our son during the day and I get him at night. We have just started using cloth diapers and have been inspired by a dear friend. :) We both are using the cloth diapers, but I would definitely consider us part time right now, and we have figured that if someone watches him, we will be the ones to clean out the diapers at night instead of making those who watch him. We bought the bumgenious so it can be easy for everyone.

  229. I have 2 caregivers but neither use my cloth diapers. I would love for them to use it but until I master it myself, I don’t want to push it on others. I started my cloth stash with prefolds and am hoping to expand further.

  231. My mom occasionally watches the baby, but I’ve only been cloth diapering for a few weeks. She’ll be visitng for Thanksgiving. I’m confident she can and will do fine, though, because she cloth diapered me in the rag-and-pin-and-plastic pants days! :)

  237. I started out only doing the cloth myself and keeping ’sposies on hand for dh & sitters. Now the older children can prep a diaper and I don’t have to worry about a sitter or relative searching for the right fit (especially with more than one in diapers).

  239. The church nursery changed my son’s cloth diaper once, and told me they were a little surprised at first, but they handled it well. They put the dirty diaper in a plastic bag instead of his wet bag, but no biggie! I tend to use a sposie now so no surprises for them. My mom and mother-in-law have both changed his cloth diapers a few times without problems. I just bought a small package of sposies for him while I’m having his baby brother since we’re not sure who will be watching him if Baby shows up early!

  243. My son is in daycare all day and his daycare provider uses cloth diapers for him. He’s the first she’s done that for. When he poops we just have her put a wipe over the poop, roll the diaper and stuff it in the wetbag. It works just fine!
