FEED YOUR STASH: Kissaluvs Marvels OS Diapers!

FEED YOUR STASH Friday - Tiny Bubbles, GroBaby & a Wet Bag

The “FEED YOUR STASH” Friday: Tiny Bubbles, GroBaby & a Wet Bag giveaway had a wonderful response. We aren’t surprised. Every day we get calls asking “How do I wash my cloth diaper stash?” or “What detergents do you recommend?” – and so, giving away a recommended laundry detergent, wet bag, and an extremely popular diaper is certainly going to draw the comments!

What was interesting were all the comments to the question. Who knew so many husbands were emphatic about how their wives wash their laundry? Tee hee. That probably didn’t surprise me as much as the comments from the Mommas about how it’d be gross to wash clothes with diapers. I’ve got to admit, in my house a hot, white load is a hot, white load. Prefolds (yes, soiled ones) are as likely to be thrown in with socks, undershirts, panties and underwear as a towel or washcloth. Of course they aren’t in my cold wash, but my hot washes? Totally fair game.

But then, you didn’t want to hear about MY WASH. You want RESULTS. You want to hear who won! You want me to step aside and get this thing on the road!!!

AND THE WINNER OF LAST WEEK’S “FEED YOUR STASH” FRIDAY GIVEAWAY IS…

  1. A sample of different fitteds with a sample of different covers. If there were 10 fitteds, say 2 of 5 different kinds, and 4 covers I would pay $150 for them.

  2. My ideal cloth diaper package would include a chic patterned diaper pail liner, an adorable zip-up wet bag, six Tiny Tush one size diapers, three Thirsties covers (sizes Medium and Large), two Kissaluvs marvels, three other covers that offer wider coverage (sizes Medium and Large), three one-size AIOs like the adjustable Fuzzi Bunz, two Thirsties AIOs in each size, three newborn Kissaluvs, two extra small Thirsties covers, two small Thirsties covers, two adjustable Thirsties covers, 12 newborn prefolds (to use as inserts & doublers later), five or six hemp doublers, cloth wipes, and a bag of Charlies Soap. Wow! That’s a lot. I would expect to pay about $400, which of course includes a sweet discount! :) Well, that’s almost the stash I have, minus several diapers I don’t like and plus a few I’d love to try!

  3. I think a good starter package would be an AIO, a pocket, and fitteds, both one size and sized, with a couple cute covers. I’d pay $60-75 for that.

  4. An ideal starter package for me would include several different AIO diapers, with a few doublers, a pail liner, and a wet bag. I don’t have any children yet, but I’m expecting my first this November. I think a package like this would get me started and help me get a feel for whether or not cloth diapering is for me. I’d probably pay about $100 for it.

  5. I am really happy with what I started with. I started with some prefolds and some pockets. I had what I needed and absolutely LOVE my pockets! I think I ended up spending about $250 but I am kind of a cloth diaperaholic!

    Comment # 5 | Posted by Alexis | July 24, 2009, 7:15 pm
  6. I would want a variety of different brands of pocket diapers. I would pay about $160-$170 for 10 diapers.

  7. I think a good package should have 1 or of every type of diaper – AIO, AI2, pocket, (with a variety of snaps and velcro closures), a fitted, a couple of prefolds and 2 types of covers. Included should be a large wetbag and a travel size zip one. A sample of laundry detergent to wash it all with. And last but not least a fact sheet on clothdiapering basics and helpful tips. $135-150.

  9. My ideal stash is actually pretty close to what I have, although I would get a couple more things if I could. I like to wash every other day, and I have two kids (6 months and 21 months).

2 pail liners, 2 wet bags, 18 BG 3.0s (converted to snaps), 8 one size fitteds (coverless for around the house), 1 dozen prefolds, 1 dozen flats, 2 covers for each kid, assorted Snappis and pins.

I’d add a couple of pieces of wool, and I think about $500 is good for all of this!

    Comment # 9 | Posted by Joceline | July 24, 2009, 7:30 pm
  10. Oh jeez…I’d say 2 pail liners, 2 wetbags for diaper bags, and about 20 pocket diapers (one size)…and maybe some diaper lotion potion concentrate and country save laundry detergent!

    $375?

  12. I’d think a set of prefolds and 2 snappis, 4 covers half side snap, one front snap, and one aplix, 2 OS pockets of differing brands, two AIOs of differing brands, three fitteds and a set of a dozen cloth wipes.
I’d expect to pay somewhere around 150 for it, which would reflect a nice savings.

    Comment # 12 | Posted by Slee | July 24, 2009, 7:46 pm
  13. I would offer maybe 10 diapers and 2 of each. 2 prefolds, 2 covers, 2 aio, 2 one size and 2 pockets. I would include a sample of detergent (maybe for 5 loads, a snappi and a small wet bag. Maybe give a selection of which pockets they would like to try, or which covers. I didn’t go with a package since I didn’t care for the diapers offered in the packages. I would say 125.00 would be a minimum.. and you can adjust price based on which diapers they wanted in the package.

    Comment # 13 | Posted by Amy Dietrich | July 24, 2009, 7:47 pm
  14. It would have 24 pre-folds with 4 diaper covers and it would be aound $50.

  15. My ideal cloth diaper package would include 6 pocket diapers, 2 wet bags, and some good diaper laundry detergent. And I’d pay… about $125?

  16. 24 Bum Genius 3.0 one size diapers (these things are great!!) with 2 planetwise diaper pail bags and a step-can diaper/garbage can. I’d expect to pay about $450.00 for it.

  17. I think my ideal stash would include about 18 pocket diapers, several fitteds and covers and I would probably pay somewhere around 250?

  18. One of two of each of the main styles-prefolds and covers (and a couple Snappis!) AIO, fitted, pocket and a one size. Some samples of different detergents and some cloth wipes.

    Around $150.

    Comment # 18 | Posted by EMD | July 24, 2009, 7:58 pm
  19. A dozen prefolds, an assortment of fitteds, two PUL covers and at least two wool and/or fleece soakers/longies/shorties. At least one dozen assorted pockets, at least half of which are OS. Four dozen cloth wipes, and a year supply of wipe juice concentrate. Some container to dispense the wipe juice that’s cuter than my peri bottle. Two pail liners, one small wetbag and one large wetbag. A gallon of Allens Naturally and a large bottle of tea tree oil. A roll of disposable liners. An assortment of hemp or bamboo doublers, especially like the Loopy-do or Super-do for bedtime.

  21. Ideally, I would say my stash would include about 16 diapers in all including AIO’s and prefolds. Also, large and small wetbags, detergent. I’d say I’d pay about $250 for this.

  22. My ideal stash for the new baby coming (no sharing with big brother!!)
would be 12 kissaluv colors fitteds, 3 XS thirsties covers, 3 bummis covers, 12 BG pocket OS dipes, and 12 BB deluxe pockets. I’d like 2 diaper pails, 2 small wetbags zipper closure and 1 large overnight wetbag.
Not so “starter”, but that’s ok!!
The cost might be around $600

  24. My ideal stash would have a dozen prefolds with thirsty covers, and a mix of bumgenius 3.0 and happy heinies pocket diapers. Of course I would also need a really cute diaper pail liner and tons of fancy wet bags for on the go.

  25. forgot to add what I would pay….I’d say in my ideal world $200 tops and I would even try to bargain it down to $150!

  26. I think the ideal starter stash would have a selection of some of the most popular brands. I think it should be priced around $100. Anything too pricey would scare prospective CDers off.

    Comment # 26 | Posted by Ruth | July 24, 2009, 9:22 pm
  27. For a beginner stash I guess what I started with was not too bad. I bought 10 BG OS off CL for $100 however that meant doing laundry every day. So add another 10 more. I think the BGs were a great way to start- they make it an easy switch from disposables too. Add a diaper pail, liner, wet bag, and sprayer, and I think $300 is more than adequete. Now for my ideal stash with lots of variety including new, cute and functional diapers and all the accesories I would say more like $500.

    Comment # 27 | Posted by Shannon | July 24, 2009, 9:39 pm
  28. My ideal starter pack would contain a couple each of AIOs, pockets, fitteds, and covers, at least one aplix and one snap of each. Also a couple doublers, a pail liner, a wet bag, and a few wipes. $250.

    Comment # 28 | Posted by momof3munchkins | July 24, 2009, 9:57 pm
  29. I think the perfect package would include 3 AIO’s, 3 pockets, 3 fitteds, 3 wraps, a snappi, 12 prefolds, and 3 contours. And you would be able to pick your size. This would give a beginer the perfect opportunity to get a taste of everything and make a educated choice on what kind of system them wanted. I would have a few of each and charge $300.

    Comment # 29 | Posted by Victoria Drake | July 24, 2009, 10:09 pm
  30. I would want the package to include two large wet bags for at home, two small wet bags for the diaper bag, and 18 to 20 pocket diapers. Fuzzi Bunz, Bum Genius w/ Snaps, and Rumparooz w/ Snaps. I would want to pay around $250 to $300 for it.

    Comment # 30 | Posted by Lisa | July 24, 2009, 10:13 pm
  31. Wow! What a question! My dream package would be two pail liners, two medium size wet bags and a small wet bag (for cloth wipes), 12 cloth wipes in cute printed flannel, 18 pocket diapers, 18 extra inserts, 12 prefolds, 4 covers and a sprayer. I would pay $400 for all that if they were all super cute chic fabrics!!!

  33. I think that a great starter stash would be
    1 BG organic AIO w/snaps
    1 Rumparooz one size
1 Blueberry Bamboo One Size Minky
    2 GroBaby Vanilla snap shells
    4 Grobaby inserts
I’d expect to pay about $200 for this & it would be a great sampling to figure out what I liked best.

My personal ideal stash would be
    6 BG Organic AIO’s w/snaps
    4 Print Rumparooz One size
6 Blueberry Bamboo One Size Minky w/snaps

    4 Kissaluv Marvel Fitteds
    6 Thirsties Fab Fitteds
    6 Thirsties covers
    2 Vanilla Snap Grobaby shells
    6 Grobaby inserts
    3 Planetwise wetbags
    36 bamboo wipes

I’d expect to pay about $800 for my ideal stash, but I would spread the purchase out over several months.

  34. In my opinion, starting out cloth diapering is helpful if you have more than just prefolds/flats and covers. Frankly, in a sleep deprived state, a fitted was really nice for quickly diapering so we could move on to eating. Prefolds definitely have their purpose and place though.

This is what I would suggest to someone interested in starting with cloth diapers. Some things that will last and things that their baby will grow out of quickly. Just so they can explore their options.

    2 Pail Liners
    1 Medium sized Wet Bag
    12 prefolds
    4 covers (2 snaps, 2 aplix)
4 Fitted diapers (different brands so customers can find the best fit for their baby)
1 Bum Genius 3.0 One Size
    1 Pocket diaper
    3 Baby Kicks Hemp doublers
    12 Cloth Wipes
    2 Snappis

I would pay at a minimum $150. However, that depends on the types of covers, pocket diaper, and wet bags/liners included in the package.

Also, I would include an insert with some considerations about “where to go from here”. Pointing out that if they go with the prefolds and covers they will need to purchase individual sizes versus one size diapers. Cost comparisons over time. Drying and Washing time/frequency.

    Comment # 34 | Posted by Alison K | July 25, 2009, 12:50 am
  35. Hmmm…I’d like 3 AIO’s, 3 pockets, 3 fitteds, and a cover. (I’m not a prefold gal). $150 sounds about right.

    Comment # 35 | Posted by Julie | July 25, 2009, 1:31 am
  36. My ideal cloth diaper package would be ONLY one size diapers, a variation of AIO and pockets, but strictly one size! BumGenius 3.0, Bumgenius AIO, FuzziBunz (3rd edition) all are at the top of my list…and they would all have snaps!

    Comment # 36 | Posted by Camille | July 25, 2009, 2:29 am
  37. I personally love one size pocket diapers, but I think when I started out I would have loved a package that included pockets, AIOs, prefolds, fitteds, and covers.

    Comment # 37 | Posted by Sarah | July 25, 2009, 3:02 am
  38. I think the ideal cloth diaper package would include 1 or 2 of each kind of diaper so you get a variety and figure out what works best for you. I would also include a diaper pail liner/wet bag, and a smaller wet bag for on the go. a few accessories like a snappi or diaper pins, flushable liners, and maybe even sample of detergents. It would be nice if the package could be around $100-120

    Comment # 38 | Posted by Jaime | July 25, 2009, 4:27 am
  39. My ideal diaper package would include everything I need to get started and try a little of everything. A couple of different brands of AIOs, pockets, a dozen prefolds, some snappis, and a variety of covers (PUL, fleece, and wool). It could also include a small/medium wetbag, a large diaper pail bag, and maybe some detergent. I have no idea what I’d pay but since we’re using cd partially for financial reasons, it would have to be a great deal!

    Comment # 39 | Posted by Stephanie | July 25, 2009, 6:13 am
  40. A selection of different things. A few fitteds, a cover, a few prefolds, one pocket and one aio. I use a little bit of everything and love trying it all out.
I’d expect to pay maybe $75. I don’t know about the pricing…that part is harder to figure out. :)

  42. The ultimate CD package would include:
12 each of newborn and infant indian unbleached PFs
1 thirsties cover in each size, XS, S, M
    1 Disana wool cover, Medium
    1 kissaluvs one size fitted
    1 softbums one size fitted
    2 Rocky mt. pockets
    2 Softbum Perfect Fit systems
2 BumGenius AIOs each in XS, S, M

    And all snaps are preferable!
Considering I’d expect this to last my entire cloth diapering years, including multiple children, I’d pay $350, although that’s probably worth a lot more than 350.

    4 small BSWW covers
    3 medium BSWW covers
    6 one-size BG3.0s
    1 diaper pail liner
    1 small wetbag
    24 cloth wipes

  46. I like the idea of a variety pack that has samples of several different brands of diapers. You can try the diapers out and see which brand works best for you! I would think you would pay anywhere between $150.00-$175.00 depending on how many diapers were in the pack!

  48. My perfect diaper package would be:

    Basic Diaper Package: $230
    3 XS Thirsties Covers
    3 S Thirsties Covers
    3 Medium Thirsties Covers

    4 dz Infant Prefolds
    3 dz Premium Prefolds

    2 Snappis Fasteners

    Optional additions may include:

    Cloth Wipes package: $30
48 single layer cotton flannel wipes
1 squeezie bottle (like a peri bottle)
1 2 oz bottle of tea tree oil
    1 pint olive oil
1 bottle Dr. Bronners Liquid Castile Soap
    Instructions on making wipes solution

    Diaper Pail package: $30
1 13 gallon kitchen trash can with touch to open lid
    1 Swaddlebees Diaper Pail Liner

That makes a “You won’t have to buy ANYTHING for the first 2 years of your baby’s life to cover their butt or wipe it” for $290. (except maybe more olive oil) If it sounds expensive, you might point out that $290 would buy you about 18 weeks of disposable diapers and wipes.

And I would definitely encourage people to do cloth wipes! Honestly, it’s not that hard to do, you’re washing diapers already, what’s a few wipes, too? I have found that most of the wipes on the market are a bit of overkill in the thickness department, I am actually happiest with the flannel receiving blankets that I cut up to start with. I just wish they were serged so that they didn’t shed strings in the wash. They don’t soak up too much wipe solution, so you aren’t wasting it in the wipe.

  49. I forgot to add a large A&D tub ($9) and 2 wetbags ($20 – I like my WAHMies ones).

And to Andrea McK, I’m glad to see that someone else uses their peri bottle for the same thing!

  50. OR instead of the S and Med Thirsties covers, I would substitute the Blueberry Coveralls One-size. I definitely love them but I don’t think they are very good for babies under 12 lbs.

    Comment # 50 | Posted by Alli | July 25, 2009, 10:39 am
  51. I think the best cloth diaper trial would include one each of all the different types of cloth diapers. So a prefold with a cover, a fitted with a cover, an all-in-one, an all-in-two, a diaper pail liner, and a wetbag. I would expect to pay around $150.

    Comment # 51 | Posted by Laura Wilson | July 25, 2009, 11:11 am
  52. I am dying to try these fitteds!
My ideal stash would be 9 one sized fitteds with covers and 9 one size pockets. I would need a mixture of snaps (for me) and velcro (for the hubby). And I would love to $200!

  53. Two pail liners, two wetbags, two dozen prefolds, two dozen cloth wipes, and 6 thirsties covers. Maybe have it cost $170, but I’m bad at setting prices so I’m not sure if that’s a fair deal…

  54. I think a great package would be a variety. Some prefolds and covers, AIOs, and pockets. The accessories would be included, also. Cloth wipes, pail wet bags, travel wet bags, detergent, wipe solution. I think it would be a great starter package, for someone new to diapering. Depending on the number of diapers, I would say anywhere between $150-$300.

  58. I think an ideal package would need a little bit of everything in it some prefolds with a cover, a few differnt brands of pockets and AIO a pail liner or a wet bag, some wipes and some detergent to wash it all in. I would pay $150-200.

  60. Oh wow! That is a hard question!!! Okay so I would say I would want 12 prefolds (or flats) and two covers – I really like Thirsties and I have an esbaby cover that I like so one of each and maybe 4 fitteds. Probably 12 Bum Genuis OS pockets. And I really like bamboo inserts and hemp are really good for heaving wetting so maybe six of each. I would expect to pay between $250 and $275 for it.

  61. A starter stash? A few prefolds with a cover, an AIO, a OS pocket (with prewashed hemp insert and doubler, along with a microfiber insert and doubler–to see what combo works well), a dozed wipes, and an airy clothes basket to hold the dirty dipes. I think $75 would be an ideal price.

For me, some OS and an assortment of inserts!

  62. I think it would be great if there were a couple of different packages to choose from. All having a wet pail bag and wet carry bag. Some detergent to start out with. And a booklet telling you how to do everything with the particular package. Maybe there could be an economy package, a package somewhere in the middle, and one a little more on the expensive side.

    Comment # 62 | Posted by Beth E. | July 25, 2009, 9:23 pm
  63. Definitely AIO’s for a starter, and I think 6 of each size would be good. Also a wetbag and perhaps some cloth wipes. Maybe $200?

    Comment # 63 | Posted by Jennifer | July 25, 2009, 9:26 pm
  64. We use prefolds with the BumGenius pocket diapers right now and it’s good for us. However, I would love to have had as a starter kit about 5 AIO in the first 3 size ranges, 12 or so prefolds, and a couple of Bum Genius. I think my favorite thing would be the newborn diapers they now have that are low enough and small enough to not rub on the umbilical cord. Plus 2 wetbags, the sprayer, a package of disposable liners for out on the town messes, and some detailed care instructions on how to use and care for your diaper stash. I’m not sure how much this would be, it’s been a while since I bought any diapers, perhaps $150 to $200.

  65. This is tough. It depends on what the package is for.

This is what I’d put in a starter package:

    2 Bumgenius One size diapers
1 Apple Cheeks envelope cover with Apple Cheeks insert
    2 Swaddlebees velour fitteds
    1 Kissaluvs Marvels fitted
    2 Wonder Wraps covers
    8 prefolds
2 Thirsties Duo Wraps (one of each size)
2 Thirsties All in Ones in purchaser’s choice of sizes
1 Natural Baby Company small wetbag
This package would cost $200 and it would be a good deal. Oh, and I might include some Imse Vimse flushable liners, too.

For me, as a total dream (and I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff), I would want:
8 Bumgenius One size diapers (various colors that I’d get to pick)
    7 Swaddlebees velour fitteds
2 Vanilla Wonder Wraps (I hope they get more colors soon)
    10 Bumgenius inserts
1 Kissaluvs Cloth n Go bag
8 pocket diapers from various companies that have great colors and color combinations–my choice of brands and colors
4 Apple Cheeks envelope covers, size 2
This package would cost $400 and it would be an amazing deal!

  66. My ideal package would have 24 infant prefolds, 12 premiums, 6 one size covers, two wool covers for night use, and ten onesize pockets for out and about times. I would pay $275 for this. But that would be discounting the pockets alot.

  67. the ultimate cloth diaper package…hmm, this one is TOUGH!

for our family it would be, 7 Bum Genius OS

7 Blueberry One Size Combo Inserts

7 Blueberry OS my choice of colors

    7 Bum Genius AIOS

    1 Blueberry Minky WetBag

    1 Bum Genius Diaper sprayer

this would be the perfect combination for my family.

I’d expect to pay…oh I’ll say 600 dollars for all of this.

  69. Hmmm….Since I have been cloth diapering for a year now and still feel like I don’t have a super great idea about all the options I have out there, I would love to see a package that had a few different brands of pocket diapers and wraps, so that I could get a feel for what’s out there and if something would work better for us. (And for us, it would have to be sized, since my 15 mo. old is on the verge of growing out of her bumGenius one-sizes.) And in my dream world, I’d like to pay about $75 for a selection.

  71. Soooooo excited to see that I won last week’s Feed Your Stash Friday evening!! :) Can’t wait to get my info out to you.

An ideal starter package for me would include four AIO diapers, & four pockets, four inserts, & two doublers, a large zippered wetbag, cloth diaper friendly detergent and washing instruction to get started. I would happily pay in the range of $200-250 for it.

  72. Personally I like prefolds and wraps. It’s probably because when I started cloth diapering there weren’t any other choices. If I had to start over and had never done cloth diapering I think an assortment of the various types of diapers would be nice so I could try out and decide what I liked best!

    Comment # 72 | Posted by Jen manley | July 26, 2009, 5:27 pm
  73. My ideal package has everything a beginner needs to get started… 24 XS diapers for newborns, then 24 bigger size or one size diapers. Color selection is completely up to the customer, including prints. That means there could be 48 different styles. Then there should be included a few extra diaper inserts, laundry detergent, diaper pail and pail inserts, two wet bags and a choice of cloth wipes or chemical-free disposable wipes. I would pay 850 for this entire package.

  75. An assortment of fitteds, AIOs, inserts, and covers – my first baby is due in 8 weeks, so I’m not really sure what I like yet and what my ideal diaper package would be. $100-$150 would be nice.

  76. Now that I have been cloth diapering and tried different items, I know exactly what I like and what works. My ideal package would mainly be made up of Indian prefolds, several wool covers for overnight, dappi pants and thirsties covers, and 8 or so bumgenius or all in one diapers for going out. It’s unrealistic, but $200 for the whole package would be great!

  79. I prefer at least 12 hybrid AIOs (AIOs with pockets) in my rotation. I am still mixed about one size or regular size. My current favs are Bum Genius and Thirsties, but i haven’t really tried that many others, so there may be a more that i would like. Then of course i want doublers, and disposable liners are a must these days. With my son on solids, these have kept me sane…otherwise i would have given up long ago b/c of how gross it gets.

  80. I would think the perfect sample package would be one of every kind of diaper. So that people can try them out to figure out what they want to use. It should also include a wetbag, cloth wipes and some info on what the different type of diapers are and how they work.

I’m a old school cloth diaper person. It was hard for me to figure out all the new styles of cloth diapers to use for my grandson that I watch everyday.

    Comment # 80 | Posted by Julie G. | July 27, 2009, 10:40 am
  81. I think the ideal cloth diaper package would have a mixture of a couple different kinds of diapers, but focus on one kind. For example, I would love to see 12 fitteds with 4-6 covers, 6 pockets and 2 AIOs, a wetbag, wipes & solution (like Northern Essence), detergent samples and a diaper pail liner. I also think a small booklet on using cloth diapers would be essential – especially if it included HOW TO STRIP! This would be available in S, M, & Large size packages.

I think the small package could be adjusted for newborn (add 24 prefolds) for an extra $50.

Total cost would be $300 for the sized package and $350 with the prefolds. (Which is probably a giant steal!).

  82. 2 bum Genius
    2 gro Babies
    2 apple cheeks
    8 prefolds
    4 kissalov covers
    4 g diapers
8 new g diaper cloth inserts

Total cost would be $175…throw in a wet bag and a diaper sprayer…for $215!

  83. Wow! What a question! If I had the money to start all over again, this is what I’d get:
    12 BG OS organic
    6 fitteds (at least 2 w/overnight capabilities)
    4 thirsties covers
2 dancing bears covers for night
    2 pail liners
    2 wet bags
    allens naturally detergent
    diaper sprayer
I would guess this to be around $400. Not exactly a “starter” package, but it would be all you’d ever need!

  84. OOOhh. Good question.

    cloth diaper detergent
6 different brand of pocket diapers (preferably one size)
    4 different brand AIO
    cloth wipes
    cloth wipes solution
and a guide on how to wash, care and use your cloth diapers.
I would expect to pay about $250.00 for it.

  87. I think I started out with a pretty good stash that I put together myself –
    doz+ infant prefolds
    3 snappis
    2 pul covers
    2 wool covers
    3 fitteds
    3 aios
    wetbag for pail and travel
good instructions for care and homemade solutions

Variety in the dipes and covers to get a good feel for what is out there and what works for your own babe.
I put mine together for $100 by scrupulously shopping ebay, and I was very pleased and feel like I got a good idea of where I wanted to go sizing up.

  88. Hmmmm I think a good package would include some pre-folds, a Snappi or two, a couple of different covers, some pocket diapers (maybe one or two one-size and one or two of the desired size), some AIOs (again, some OS and some specified sizes), and several different brands/types of inserts.
Prices? I don’t know. I STINK at this part. Maybe $100-150?

  89. I would make a economy sampler for people on a budget. I would include 2 prefolds (differrent sizes)with two different covers, a super wisper wrap and a thirsties. Then I would include a one size fits all Fuzzi bunz, Bum genius and maybe a Kissaluvs. I would make it cost $85.00 dollars with a $10 or $20 cupon if the customer buys a 6 or 12 pk of one of the featured diapers.

    Comment # 89 | Posted by jessica | July 28, 2009, 12:13 pm
  90. I think the idea of a smaller, simpler package is best for an introduction to cloth diapers. The bigger packages/collections are something that really takes time and personal choices to build. I think an ideal sample package would cost $50-75. It should include a prefold and velcro/snap cover, a fitted diaper and a pull-on cover, a one-size diaper and an all all-in-one diaper. I don’t think brands are so important, but if you include a Kissaluvs fitted there should be a list of similar diapers in different brands so people know what to look for when they are shopping for what will work best for them. There should defintely be a booklet with washing instructions, instructions on using cloth wipes, how to travel with cloth diapers on short around-town trips, how to travel with cloth diapers overnight, etc. There’s a lot of information online, but it can be very, very overwhelming for someone who is just starting and does not personally know anyone who is cloth diapering. I really like Jessica’s idea of a coupon, too!

    1 snappi
    1 thirsties duo wrap
    1 wonder wraps cover
    1 Bummis super whisper wrap
    1 GroBaby w/snaps
    1 BumGenius one-size

    12 GroBaby w/snaps
    24 cloth wipes
    pre-folds (mostly for wash day back-up) I’m not a pre-fold girl

  94. I’d probably pay $75 for a cloth diaper starter kit. Not much more than that, because when I was just starting to cloth diaper, I was sort of on the fence about it and didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on if I ended up not doing it. I would want just the basics, so my ideal starter kit would include:

    1 pre-fold

    1 fitted

    1 AIO

    1 cover

    1 wet bag

    1 box of diaper detergent

    2 bummis tote bags small
    1 bummis tote bag medium
1 box of cloth diaper friendly detergent

  99. I always wished they would offer a build it yourself package. Where you could go on and buy what you wanted and recieve a discount based on the total amount you spend. I personally have been “feeding my stash” little by little since my son was born six months ago, and buying cloth diapers for expecting friends and unexpecting disposable users along the way. I’m glad I didn’t buy it all at once as a package deal, because new products and versions are coming out all the time and if I’d spent all my money at the get go I wouldn’t have quite the variety I do now, and believe me I use different ones for different occasions and have distinctive opinions on all of them. So I guess I’d like to see a more flexible plan that allows you to buy what you need when you need it, but allows you dicounts for buying in quantity or possibly allows for a point system that rewards for cummulative purchases over time.

The cost. . . How about $285!

    12 hemp flats
    12 Thirsties duo covers (6 in sz1, 6 in sz2)
3 packages of bumGenius Bamboo Wipes

    Pail freshener
    PlanetWise Hanging Wet/Dry bag

    Diaper Sprayer
    Detergent

This would cost me about $600 (that would be with a great discount!) that we would do a layaway type thing so it would be done over a few months. 16 medium pocket diapers
    1 medium wetbag

  114. It’s funny you ask…I just dove into the world of cloth diapering headfirst. I literally just placed my order for a package I put together to try out about 30 minutes ago. I ordered one each of Gro Baby, Bum Genius one-size, Fuzzi Bunz pocket, Swaddlebees Econappi, Gro Baby, Blueberry stuffable AIO, Blueberry Minki one-size bamboo velour, Pocket Change, Sposoeasy AIO and Dream-eze AIO. I paid $147 and some change. Since I am just now trying them out, this is my first ideal package. I would love to try some fitted diapers next!

  115. Hmmmm…I get tired of the same thing all the time and like variety just to mix things up a bit. :) So a little of everything would be in my diaper stash: a few dozen prefolds and 6 or 8 covers, 12 to 18 all-in- ones and pockets. I would expect to pay more for buying a la carte as opposed to buying a package, so if I could keep it under $500 I’d feel like I’d done well.

  116. I am still deciding what to buy and what would work best. I would like to try prefolds & covers (1 cover, 2-3 prefolds), BG one size, FB one size, Gro Baby one size, and an all-in-one. Since I am still researching, I am unsure of other brands. In all I would be happy with 8-10 diaper changes, soap, and a wet bag for about $175. I have twins, so an option of getting two sets at a discount would be even better!
