"FEED YOUR STASH" Friday!

FEED YOUR STASH: Tiny Bubbles, GroBaby & a Wet Bag

Last week when I announced our “FEED YOUR STASH” Friday Giveaway for one Potty Scotty or Potty Patty Potty Training Doll, I had a feeling there would be some interested parties (or wait…maybe I should say “interested POTTIES!”)!

Seems I’m not the only one that didn’t have a clue about the Potty Training In One Day method.

Although I would have liked to try it out for myself, don’t any of you get the idea you’ll send your potty aged children my way to “experience” the fullness of potty training at the master’s hands. Nope! My kids have peed their own yellow rivers a time or two and the clean up isn’t so nice!

That said, let’s remind everyone what the winner of last week’s giveaway will get!

The winner gets ONE (1) Potty Scotty or Potty Patty Potty Training Doll! Each Potty Scotty or Potty Patty Potty Training Doll Deluxe Kit includes:

  • One (1) Potty Scotty or Potty Patty - a 16″ anatomically correct potty training boy or girl doll dressed in a 2-piece outfit
  • Two (2) water bottles
  • Three (3) “big kid” doll underwear for Potty Scotty or Potty Patty to wear
  • One (1) Book, A Guide for Today’s Parent to answer some of the common potty training questions.
  • One (1) DVD, A DVD for Today’s Parent for a visual step-by-step journey through the potty training in one day method

AND THE WINNER IS/WAS/WILL BE…

In response to the question, “How many kids have you potty trained? What system did you USE or think you’ll use?” Janie N. wrote:

“I have not begun to officially PT my 15 month old, but I did buy a little potty this week. I am not generally a “parent by a book” type of gal. Usually I just wing it, but if I had a book (that I didn’t have to buy) I would definitely use it. I did PT a bunch of daycare kids when I taught 2 year olds…it really wasn’t that bad, but each child is different!”

Congratulations Janie N. I know this will TRULY reduce the stressors of potty training your 15 month old. You’ll have to get back in touch with us and let us know how you liked the system! Please watch for my email requesting all the necessary information for shipping!

  1. I wash them separately. I don’t think my husband would let me do otherwise, and frankly, I don’t think I want to, either.

  3. I wash them separately. They usually need extra rinses, etc, so I like keeping the load small. Plus less icky!

  8. I definately wash them seperately! I use a homemade detergent that is different from my homemade detergent I use on the family’s laundry, plus I do an extra rinse cycle. My dear husband would probably be grossed out if I did the diaper wash with his clothes!!

  10. I do a separate load of diapers, covers, inserts, etc. Luckily, I get to wash 3 loads at once in a community laundry room, so I can get a lot done in a short time!

  11. We wash diapers separately, since there’s a special “washing protocol” that doesn’t apply to anything else. Plus, having our clothes swished around in poopy water sounds gross. =)

    Comment # 11 | Posted by Jo | July 17, 2009, 5:06 pm
  12. I definitely wash them separately, although I’ve considered washing the covers in with the regular laundry (cold wash). Diapers are the only things I wash in hot water.

    Comment # 12 | Posted by Meredith | July 17, 2009, 5:07 pm
  13. Like everyone else so far, we also wash our diapers separately from our clothes & stuff. However, I sometimes wash a peed-on diaper cover with our cloths if I missed it and it needs it.

  14. I used to throw in my diapers with our lights… BUT now I have enough to do them on their own. So I just wash them by themselves. Tuesday Night and Saturday Afternoon!!

  15. I wash cloth diapers with towels. DH doesn’t like the idea of putting diapers (or mama cloth or family cloth) in with our “regular” clothes.

  16. I wash them seperately so that I can use the right amount of detergent and wash/rinse cycle which are different for cloth diapers and regular laundry.

  23. Throw it all in together. I do not wait for my diapers to add up, I just throw in a day’s worth with the load everyday. Never had any problems so far. When I strip them, I do them seperate with a special additive.

  29. I wash them seperately. I would be grossed out to do it together. Plus I use different detergent. I also have a long wash routine that would be wasteful with a bunch of other stuff in there. Soak on cold, wash on cold, wash on hot, double rinse.

  32. Currently, I was the little one’s diapers with his clothes, but separate from our clothing. I’m hoping in the next week to start washing it completely separately, just for ease. I don’t like washing his clothes in the hot water and they don’t need so much rinsing.

    Comment # 32 | Posted by Danielle M | July 17, 2009, 8:41 pm
  33. I wash them seperatly since I use a “wet” diaper pail. This way I just dump the entire contents of the pail into the washer and spin out all the water before starting a wash cycle.

  37. Oh what a blessing it would be to win this week (my baby girl is scheduled to be born a week from today).

I wash my cloth diapers separately. I am still experimenting with how to get them the cleanest in my front loading washer. Which is great for the environment, but not for washing cloth diapers.

  56. Well, when we just had gDiapers I would wash the (often) soaked cloth covers and pre-rinsed liners with my son’s clothes. Now we are using all cloth and I do wash them separately from our regular laundry but I wash my pockets, inserts, AIOs, fitteds and covers together two to three times a week.

  78. If something ends up in the wetbag from traveling, it goes in together, otherwise, it’s all separate. I think we’ve ended up with a onesie or two and a washcloth or bib occasionally, but usually it’s easy to separate or we ‘fight the goo’ and go digging for the items that don’t go in the diaper load!

    Comment # 78 | Posted by Jill | July 18, 2009, 7:20 pm
  79. I usually wash diaper every 2-3 days, so I generally have a full load. When I don’t, I throw in baby clothes, towels, or sheets or my husband’s running clothes since all have a strict “no additive” policy.

  113. The diapers and covers go in the laundry like a dream. I wash them separately from other loads. I love how easy cloth diapers are to wash and want them to all come out ready to use at the same time, so they all go in together. Other loads consist of washing clothes, towels, and bedding for my husband, myself, and our 3 month old.

  127. For the most part, I wash them separately in Charlie’s Soap. (But would definitely be willing to try some free Tiny Bubbles!) However, if I have enough room in the load I also throw in a few lights. I rinse the diapers pretty thoroughly with a toilet sprayer attachment before they even get rinsed in the washer. So it really doesn’t bother me to wash the diapers with regular laundry.

  184. I wash them separately for a couple reasons. First, I don’t wash my other laundry on hot only warm/warm. Second, you shouldn’t use fabric softener and I use the liquid kind. Third I think if you do too much at once the diapers don’t come clean. And last but not least all the prewash and extra rinses would cost me a fortune if I did my other laundry as well!!

  190. I’ve been ECing part time, but use cloth diapers sometimes, and other times I just put them under him. So a little tinkle or smudge, and BAM, I change him. So we still do have enough cloth diapers for a whole load pretty often.

I wash the covers separately with my delicate stuff or just wash them by hand, since I want them to stay nice. But the cloth diapers themselves are tough and I don’t care how they look, so I wash them all in one very hot wash.

  197. For our cloth diapers, we wash them separately. This has more to do with the process rather than the fact that they are diapers. We presoak the diapers in baking soda, to “neutralize” them. This keeps them soft and smelling good everytime! We do use the same detergent (Charlie’s Soap) and booster (Oxo Brite) for all of our laundry, though. I would love to try the Tiny Bubbles brand to see how it works!

  198. I wash diapers and covers seperate from other household laundry on the prewash cycle first. Then sometimes I will throw in other items when I do the hot water wash after. Since I use dye and fragrance free detergent (and chlorine free bleach when nedded) for all of the family’s laundry I figure I might as well save myself a few extra loads of laundry.

  200. Do you wash your cloth diapers and diaper covers separate from your household laundry or do you throw it all in together?

When I first started CDing, I washed separately. But I was using different detergent for our clothes and diapers. Now, I switched to one detergent for all the laundry so it all goes into one load. I just do smaller loads w/more water to make sure everything gets clean/washed/rinsed.

  213. I have loved using cloth diapers since my second child was born. It is so easy. All my diapers use velcro and I am using the all in ones that grow with my little man. Again simple easy cheesey. I use a wetbag that velcros shut in my diaper bag to keep the stinky monsters away and have found that with a little TLC my diapers always look new coming out of the wash.
I look forward to trying a new soap to see how well it works on my hemp lined diapers.

  216. I wash separately for diapers and cloth wipes. But most of the time I throw my daughter’s covers in with her laundry.

  218. We wash them separately. Since I have two in diapers, there’s plenty enough dirty diapers to do a separate load!

  219. I wash separately, but every now and then I will throw in a pair of shorts or a nightgown. I also put anyclothes that my older daughter might have an accident in with my diaper laundry. I also use different detergent for my diapers.

  223. I most definitely wash them separately! The idea of mixing bodily wastes with the clothes I wear is grody!

  224. Separately, although for some reason I’m completely okay with washing sheets/clothes/changing pads with pee and poo on them in the same wash as everything else.

    Comment # 224 | Posted by Dedra | July 23, 2009, 3:25 pm
  225. I wash them separately. I don’t want the velcro tabs adhering to any clothes and I don’t want towels, etc. to get lint on my dipes.

  229. I always wash seperately! Washing my diapers uses a whole other system from my normal wash.

  230. we wash ours separately - i never thought i was “allowed” to wash them together. people are already freaked out that we wash them in our own machine - to the point where we are working at camp this summer and had to switch to 7th generation because we couldn’t wash the diapers in the communal machines. they wanted separate machines let a lone separate wash

  232. I’ll be washing them separately as I will use a separate detergent for them…use 7th generation now for my laundry but have read varying reports on its effectiveness long term on cloth diapers. Would love to try Tiny Bubbles

  233. I wash them seperately. We only use Charlies in our home for the comfort of 1 other child but I do use a Stain wash setting on the washer. It makes it easier washing them seperate so I can pick out the covers to line dry and throw the inserts prefolds and cloth wipes in the dryer.

  234. Wow. I wash separately, but admit I’ve been tempted a few times when we’re low on dipes to just toss them in with the regular clothes… But it kinda grosses me out a little.

  235. I do both. It depeneds on what is dirty…I try to do a full load no matter what so that is my deciding factor. :)

  240. Eww Gross! I washed them together once and everything seemed to come out a bit poopy. Never again, I always wash the diapers seperate… plus they get an extra rinse and the pre-wash (essential)that my other clothes don’t get.

  241. We wash our diapers and clothes in seperate loads. We use the same type of detergent (Charlie’s Soap) but we do them in seperate loads.

    Comment # 241 | Posted by Victoria Drake | July 23, 2009, 5:38 pm
  242. I rinse off the poopy diapers by hand then along with the other diapers do a rinse cycle before throwing my clothes in for a full cycle.

  243. I wash all my sons cloth diapers and wipes separately from our main laundry. I like to make sure the diaper load is washed in diaper friendly soap, and I also do an extra wash sometimes.

  245. If I can get the nerve to start the system with my twins, I will wash them separately. I am sure multiples will easily generate enough laundry with cloth diapering for me to have to do a load every day!

  249. I wash together-but I do a rinse cycle on the dipes first. I wash every day, so they just don’t seem that icky, and otherwise the load would be too small.

  250. I have yet to actually start cloth diapering. I am still building up my stash and have to order a pail and wet bags and all! I am so excited! I can say when we do actually start, I will be washing them seperately from the other laundry and also with a seperate detergent!

    Comment # 250 | Posted by Diana | July 23, 2009, 9:16 pm
  251. i definitely wash our diapers separately! i can’t imagine washing clothes with those icky dipes. ;) plus, our diapers get a much more high maintenance wash routine than our clothes do.

  256. I wash my diapers/inserts/diaper covers/diaper wipes separately from the other laundry. At the end of the day, I toss the contents of my wet bag (along with the wet bag, too!) into the washer and, just before going to bed, I toss everything into the dryer. This way I have clean dipes and wipes every morning…and by doing it a the end of the day, I have enough to justify a washerload. :-)

  266. I wash them seperate unless I only have a towel or baby blanket to throw in. I do an extra cold cycle with my diapers and then an extra rinse and I don’t need to do that with our clothes. Plus I have too much laundry with my family so it wouldn’t fit in the diaper load anyway.

    Comment # 266 | Posted by Megan R | July 24, 2009, 8:56 am
  267. I usually wash them separately because I do diaper laundry at night and regular laundry during the daytime, but sometimes i’ll put our kitchen wetbag stuff in with the diapers as well.

  269. I wash them separately most of the time. I put them in for a soak in cold water with a Downy ball full of vinegar. Once the soak is over I occasssionally will throw in some whites since I wash the cloth diapers very hot. Since I mostly line dry outside no one seems to even notice that the whites were washed with the clith diapers!

  270. I wash them separately. I believe it is important to wash them in very hot water. Just seems kind of unthinkable to me to wash other clothing with dirty diapers, even if they have been rinsed or pre-soaked.

    Comment # 270 | Posted by Tina | July 24, 2009, 10:32 am
  271. i wash them separately for 3 reasons:
    1. fuzzibunz are sensitive to lint.
    2. i always pre-soak them overnight
    3. with 2 kids in diapers, there is very little room left in the washer for other clothes.
