Definitely avoid!

last year was the first time i ever went shopping on black friday! not sure i’m crazy to do it again.

I don’t wait to start my shopping but I do go shopping on Black Friday.

I don’t get crazy…I just have a list of things I want to get, I try my best, and give up if it seems ridiculous to wait in such a long line. For us it is a family tradition, a girl’s day out complete with breakfast to chat about the day’s events.

I’ve never gone shopping on black friday.

I’ve only been shopping on black friday once. I don’t think I’d do it again unless there was something specific I wanted…complete crazyness!!

I’ve done them in the past, but unless I see that there is going to be a great deal for something I was going to buy anyway, it isn’t worth the hassle.

I have always avoided shopping on black friday, I just can’t stand that many people in one place! I typically get all my shopping done before Thanksgiving, it keeps me from stressing last minute.

I try to have all my shopping done BEFORE Thanksgiving. I hate all the crowds and it’s not worth the hassle in my opinion.

Normally, I try to start shopping before Thanksgiving. Otherwise I feel rushed. I also usually avoid the big stores on Black Friday, because I don’t like the crowds. I know there are some good deals to be had, but I just can’t take it. So I’ll shop in smaller places, or just stay home.

Last year, we shopped on black friday. This year, being pregnant-I hardly care to shop on black friday. I will be avoiding it like the plague!!!!!

I usually wait until after Thanksgiving to start Christmas shopping, but this year I am SO done with shopping during any kind of rush with Christmas shopping, plus I just don’t want the whole present thing to be the focus.

So I am avoiding it like the plague.

I used to go shopping early on Black Friday, but I just can’t stand the crowds anymore. I do, however, wait for things that are not on sale on line to go on sale - and some companies have black friday online sales. I’ll happily fight the turkey induced exhaustion to stay up to midnight and get online deals!

I usually let my hubby go shopping on Black Friday and he lets me sleep in. I don’t avoid them like the plague, but I’m just not a fan of waking up early and standing in line forever. We do check the deals before-hand and have done some Black Friday shopping online as well.

As much as I hate it, it seems I am always shopping after thanksgiving. Every January I begin my Christmas shopping, and never get back to it until after Thanksgiving. Generally, I would avoid black Friday specifically though.

I run so far away from it. I plan to be DONE by Thanksgiving so I can enjoy my family and be thankful for them instead of cursing that I have to purchase gifts for them.

I used to wait for black Friday sales to go shopping because I sort of liked waking up early and joining the crowds. I am not going to do that this year though since I have a baby. This year I plan to do all my shopping online.

For us it depends on finances. This year we haven’t done any shopping b/c DH is looking for a new job. We’re waiting to see if he gets one b/c it will change what we can afford to spend on folks.

I normally never go out to do black friday shopping- too crazy! We also often do Thanksgiving dinner with family on friday, such as this year. I do love the online black friday sales though :)

I used to shop the Black Friday sales, but since having kids, I avoid them. When the stores are a zoo like that, kids just don’t belong. I start my Christmas shopping on the day after Christmas. It’s amazing the clearance sales you can hit, especially on toys. I had most of my shopping for the kids done since July, and finished entirely about a month ago, after Farm & Fleet’s Toyland opened. We’ve got a good start on everyone else, now, too. It feels so good not to be scrambling to get it all done!

great question! i avoid black friday every year and actually promote “Buy Nothing Day” instead. it’s a one day moratorium on consumerism spearheaded by adbusters.org. i think it’s important for us to be reminded of how much consumerism has infiltrated our lives and to take a moment (or a whole day) to contemplate the consequences.

I don’t know about you, but it seems like the deals are getting worse and the lines are horrible. I actually make most of my gifts or give gift cards.

I do some of my shopping before the holidays but I do buy a few things on BF. I live in a pretty small town with just a Walmart and Meijer (like Walmart) so the stores are super busy that day anyways.

I usually get all my shopping done by Halloween. I think that Black Friday coincidentally brings out the dark side in too many folks.

When I was young on Black Friday my mom and I would go to McDonalds for an early breakfast and spread out the newspaper ads and plan our day. We weren’t in line at 4:30 (or earlier!) with the crazies, but we were able to find some great deals. Nowadays, I check out my favorite store ads online and head out on Black Friday to pick up a few things I know are on sale. Nothing crazy, just taking advantage of the deals!

My mom, grandmother, and I go black Friday shopping every year. We plot out the stores we have to hit, in what order on thanksgiving. That is generally when I start my Christmas shopping and actually try and get as much done that day as possible.

Avoid them, although this year might be different with both of us out of work, it might be worth it.

I’ve done most of my Christmas Shopping at sales throughout the year. I just have to get a big Santa present for my son and something for my husband and I am all done! I do intend to hit the black Friday sales though. I am a sucker for a sale, and I have already spotted an item that is on sale from midnight to 1am, so I am going to be there!

Do you wait for Thanksgiving and “Black Friday” sales to begin your Christmas shopping or do you avoid them like the plague?

Uh… we don’t do presents for Christmas, but we do shop - from November until the after-Christmas sales… ;)

i start shopping early and will avoid black friday. i like to order things online and have them sent to me. it is easier.

I usually shop with my mom, grandma, and sister on Black Friday. However, since my baby is due on Thanksgiving day, I think I will be avoiding all of the craziness this year.

Last year was the first year I went shopping on black Friday. Not sure I will do it again.

Haaaa super funny question! I try to start early but I am a super procrastinator so right around December 22 I start panicking and buy random silly gifts for my husband. He’s really my only buy since he gets everyone else. I tell him what I was thinking of for the kids throughout the year and he just picks them up on sale. Also, we only by for his family and really don’t buy for mine so it’s all him! LOL.. But, thihns year I plan to head out on Friday but not in the wee hours of the morning that’s for sure! Maybe around mid-afternoon (I’m not a sale searcher so good think DH is)

My husband participates in black Friday sales but does not wait until then to start Christmas shopping. I do not participate in black Friday sales in person (maybe online). I try to have my christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving, following sales all year long. I love the idea of sales, but not of shopping at 5 am. Maybe when my kids are older and sleeping through the night!

I shop through out the year for sales. So my Christmas shopping is usually done before Thanksgiving. With the baby this year all my shopping is going to be on-line!

avoid with a passion, more time is spent on Black Friday than Thanksgiving it seems. Most of what is for sale is a bunch of cheap forgien junk that we don’t need and can’t afford anyway.

My husband made me go to Wal-mart this year with both of my girls, I have a 2yr. old and a 6mo. old if you can imagine how enjoyable that shopping trip was, kuddos to my baby girls though they were great it was the other shoppers that were a problem, I WILL NEVER do it again; I will stick to the internet!!

I usually wait until Black Friday to start my Christmas shopping. It has been a tradition that has been passed down from my grandma and mom. I love shopping now on Friday with my mom and sister!

I generally shop year round for presents. I do check out the Black Friday ads, and if anything interesting, then I go for it…although not at 5am in the morning. I didn’t do any early shopping this year. I wasn’t interested in anything.

We tend to avoid the sales. That means if there is anything we want, we will go at 9am and see if there are any left in stock. We don’t try and get the super cheap computer that they have 10 of in the store.

This year we meant to go, but DH got really sick Friday. Ironically, I ran to our local Walmart (its a small store and not near shopping) and they had EVERY black Friday limited sale item still available. It was hilarious and we still didn’t buy anything.

I start shopping before Thanksgiving, but I still look for good deals on Black Friday because I enjoy shopping. I skipped it this year because I figured ut would be too much for a 7 week old. Now if they were selling cloth diapers, we might have made it:)

I shop throughout the year. This year, though, I did take advantage of a Black Friday sale to get an econobum diaper kit and a free Flip diaper (I’m expecting a little one in January).

I shop through the year but have always gotten stuff on Black Friday, love it. This year though, there will be nothing unless Toys for Tots comes through.

I usually start my Christmas shopping for Black Friday, but this year I didn’t even do that! It’s going to be one hectic Christmas Shopping Season I can promise you that, 23 days left!

Generally I am a last minute shopper. But this year I am 37 weeks pregnant and on bed rest. So I did all of our shopping via the internet on Black Friday and Thanksgiving. If I wasn’t pregnant I think I would still do the online shopping thing. The stores are too crowded at this time of year.

I do NOT wait until Black Friday to start my Holiday Shopping. I do however look at sales flyers and see if I have already bought something that is on sale. If so I purchase new and return the more expensive. Call me cheap, but with three of my own kids and 16 nieces and nephews I really don’t have a choice. We decided that next year we will be doing the majority of our shopping on-line. That way I don’t have to worry about getting the items from the car into the house and finding a place to “hide” them. Everything will come in a plain box and it will be easier that way. Plus I won’t have to deal with a lot of crowded stores.

Do you wait for Thanksgiving and “Black Friday” sales to begin your Christmas shopping or do you avoid them like the plague?

I try to shop all year long to avoid the christmas rush

My wife the wonderful woman that she is, shops all year for the gift needs of our family. Unless we are at her father’s house. He lives across the street from a really good outlet mall. And this year we shopped from Midnight to 4:00 AM. and bought only one item. The deals didn’t seem that great. I like to avoid them, as does my wife, but I will go if she asks. It is some of the best times we have together. The banter and the hunt for the ultimate deal!

Mildly pay attention to the sales if I have something in mind but generally avoid going shopping on Black Friday.

I do most of my shopping for the kids right after christmas. I’m able to get birthday and christmas gifts when everything goes clearance for the next year. I also go out on black friday but only if i see a deal I can’t pass up, and never at the crack of dawn.

I have done some shopping on Black Friday for electronics and big ticket items, but I mostly shop through out the year.

I do all of my shopping online, so I look for what I want before Thanksgiving. I do wait until after Thanksgiving if I decide to buy anything that might go on sale.

I avoid the black friday shopping, I can’t stand waiting in line. I do wait until after turkey day to do all of my christmas shopping and hopefully I will hit a sale or two in the process, but I do not go out of my way to get the sales.

I look for deals and if it is something I am looking for I will shop Black Friday, however, usually just online. I usually try to stay out of the stores…way too many people in one place for me LOL :)

I tend to avoid the sales and instead come up with stuff throughout the year… which usually means not until December. The last time I shopped the sales I felt so overwhelmed that I ended up buying stuff I never used and just returned it all. I need time to think and process and the rush of the sales doesn’t work for me.

I hit Black Friday for the first time this year and the sales were ridiculous. It was well worth my time spent in how much money I saved. Plus it was the perfect excuse to get out shopping all day for X-mas presents kid free!

I don’t necessarily avoid Black Friday sales or put off my holiday shopping…but I prefer to ‘opportunity shop’. I buy things when I find them, as they’re on sale throughout the year. I’ve had some Christmas presents for a year and a half for family members!
