I wanted to use cloth with my first child, but couldn't make the commitment to purchase enought to make it worth while ( only wanted to use basically anything other than prefolds like the one side aio options ) and didn't get around to doing it until recently. Baby #2 due soon and plan to only use the cloth diapers. WHAT A SAVINGS in money and trash!!! It's amazing how much dispos diapers cost a month and how many just one child goes through...and the wipes...ick! It's truely so nasty that actually the trash probably convinced me to finally switch even more so than the cost to purchase the cloth diapers that I wanted to use.

Great tip commenter! That's exactly what we're doing right now. We have two boys (11 & 23 months) and 8 diapers so we use them until they are all dirty, then wash, & repeat. Yes, we're having to use disposables in between, but we're still saving money by not having to use as many!

Great tips. There are so many ways to make cloth diapering affordable. I always tell people that if they can't afford a whole stash, start with half a day or a day worth of diapers and add more as you save.
