Babysitters and Cloth Diapers

There was that time I came home from errands to find that my dear friend had put one of my daughter's Haute pocket diapers on backwards. Then, there was that other time when my mom sweetly lathered my little darling's rashy bottom with a thick layer of creamy Desitin before placing her in a bumGenius!. And I can't forget the time that my sister put her Smartipants Diaper on so loosely that I was amazed there weren't puddles of pee on the couch. Leaving your baby with a sitter is stressful … [Read more...]

DIY – Cloth Baby Wipes and Stay-Dry Liners

When I was pregnant I researched a lot of cloth diapers. I came to the conclusion that FuzziBunz Pocket Diapers were the best, and so that's what I put on my cloth diaper registry at Diaper Junction. I love pocket diapers. I have seven pocket dipes, and all were gifts or prizes. But hubby and I decided to go economical on this cloth diapering journey, so the majority of our diaper stash consists of Diaper Rite Prefolds. (I do not dislike my prefolds – they do a great job. I just like … [Read more...]

Sunshine and Diapers

There is nothing like a month (or four) of unusually frequent rain to make you appreciate the sun. Not only do I, as a beach girl, naturally crave the sun, or as mom of three, desire to send the older kids outside to play, but as a mom who cloth diapers, I need it. I need it to work its magic on those inevitable stains! I need it to freshen- up the fabric. I need it to provide its super drying powers to save energy and make my dipes more absorbent! Didn't know about those wonderful rays? … [Read more...]

A New Journey in Cloth Baby Wipes

After having 4 babies in 5 years, I grew frustrated with the expense of disposable baby wipes. Even purchasing them by the case taxed the bank account. Researching homemade wipes opened up a whole world of opportunity. In general cloth baby wipes can be broken done into two categories: disposable and reusable. Disposable Baby Wipes A. Prepackaged These are the most commonly used and the most expensive. These can be purchased at almost any store and join disposable diapers in the … [Read more...]

Cloth baby wipes over the top?

After a few weeks of using cloth diapers, it became clear the washing process would be easier if I purchased and used cloth wipes. I kept forgetting to throw the disposable wipes away - tossing them into the diaper pail along with the cloth diapers instead. It's hardly enjoyable to pick pieces of disposable baby wipes out of the Velcro tabs on my bumGenius 3.0's…I had better things to do! Admittedly, before I began using cloth diapers I thought cloth baby wipes were a little over … [Read more...]
