Cloth Diapering, Is it a Gateway to a Greener Lifestyle?

CDB Making Diapers Last 1

What started as a simple way to save money actually transformed my life. I love the color green, but never considered myself to be green or crunchy. I jumped into cloth diapering to save some green not be green. Something mysterious happened to me and my conversion began in November of 2009 when I became a cloth diaper junky. From the moment my sweet little boy had his bum covered in an oh-so-colorful cloth diaper I was addicted.  What started as a simple way to save money actually transformed … [Read more...]

Mama’s stripping…

Diapers that is! Most cloth diaper users will at some point experience the phenomenon I call the mystery leak. Usually this will happen at the worse possible moment and in the weirdest way! After a couple of months of happily diapering my sweet baby I started to notice these mystery leaks. She would have a completely dry diaper but the back of her onesie was wet.  Then there was the Sunday I dressed her for Church and as we were leaving I noticed her tights were soaked and yet again a dry … [Read more...]

Babies, the Documentary, gets a Rave Review!

I found it adorable, eye-opening, and inspiring to see how four babies who are raised in four very different cultures with very different traditions, still develop so similarly. What was most wonderful to me, though, was watching the way … [Read more...]

Does this Diaper make me look Crunchy?

This thought came to me when I was dressing my daughter in her onesie that says, “Does this diaper make my but look big?” Urban dictionary.com defines a crunchy mama as: “Mother who supports homebirth, breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, gentle discipline, etc. One who questions established medical authority; tends to be vegetarian and/or prepare all-organic foods.” I have always considered my self to be frugal. My husband and I have a small homestead … [Read more...]

What’s in your Sitter Stash?

Most grandparents, even if they used cloth diapers on their children, wont be interested in flats, prefolds, pins, snappis, or covers. Some of our parents are even scarred with horrible memories of extremely bulky diapers, sticking their babies with pins, and leaky plastic pants. They may resist your cloth diapering ways and wish to use disposables while they watch the baby. Luckily, there are so many options out there that you can set up a nice little stash of cloth diapers for them to use that … [Read more...]

Four Pleasant Surprises about Cloth Diapering!

jessi

I'm what you would call a cloth-diapering newbie.  When my son was born two years ago I wasn't really aware of the concept of cloth-diapering, thinking it something of the past.  After all, we have these new fancy disposable diapers now.  Why would anyone want to go through the hassle of cloth diapers?  Over time I found out a couple friends were doing it and it piqued my interest.  As we got closer to the arrival of our second child and I faced the prospect of diapering two children … [Read more...]
