Change 3 Things: The ultimate cloth diaper advocacy project!

Change 3 Things

3 Cloth Diapers.  One Planet.  Big Impact. It's no surprise that cloth diapering families become instant advocates.  Once we're hooked on cloth we can't stop talking about it.  The problem lies in the fact that to a total newbie, especially a new mom, cloth diapers can seem overwhelming and expensive. Cotton Babies, the makers of the popular BumGenius line, has taken the work out of cloth diaper advocacy with their new Change 3 Things campaign. Giving Cloth Diapers to New Parents: Ask or Don’t Ask?

cloth diapers gift 1

Since I love using cloth diapers so much, and since (to me) it seems like an obvious choice when it comes to baby care, it's only natural that I want to give them to friends of mine who are expecting, or who have children in diapers. Maybe part of my reasons for giving cloth diapers away is because I no longer really need any more, so it's a way for me to feed into my little "diaper obsession". You want to do cloth diapers? Are you crazy?

"You want to give birth naturally…yeah right, they all say that. You are going to breastfeed…I give it a month. You want to do cloth diapers…are you crazy!" While I was still pregnant it seemed everywhere I turned people were skeptical. All you had to do was wrap the nasty poo up inside of the diaper and toss it … [Read more...]

Hooks and Loops or Snaps? Which works for you?

We love cloth diapers in my house—both my husband and I, but the types of cloth diapers we prefer is a different story altogether. I prefer diapers that snap and he prefers hook and loop diapers. Talking with fellow cloth diapering bloggers and also friends who cloth diaper, the different preferences, even within one household, isn't a new story. People either love their Velcro/applix closures, or they can't do without their snaps. Why? Let's take a look at both and try to decipher … [Read more...]

A New Journey in Cloth Baby Wipes

After having 4 babies in 5 years, I grew frustrated with the expense of disposable baby wipes. Even purchasing them by the case taxed the bank account. Researching homemade wipes opened up a whole world of opportunity. In general cloth baby wipes can be broken done into two categories: disposable and reusable. Disposable Baby Wipes A. Prepackaged These are the most commonly used and the most expensive. These can be purchased at almost any store and join disposable diapers in the … [Read more...]

How to Travel with Cloth Diapers

Traveling with an infant is difficult without even considering the cloth diapering issue. It's amazing the amount of space a tiny little person can take up in your car, in your hotel room, at your friend's house, in a church nursery, in your grocery cart…little people need an amazing amount of stuff! So of course, as daunting as traveling can seem, traveling with cloth diapers can seem even more impossible. I'm here to tell you it is not. When we first decided to use cloth diapers, … [Read more...]
