The Talented Mr. Prefold

The cotton prefold is well known as a cloth diaper. Even people who don't know anything about modern cloth diapering remember the prefold and the diaper services that used to deliver them to our doors. I remember very well how my mom used prefolds and plastic pants on the first couple of babies. And diaper services were like magic! Give them a bag full of nasty, smelly, soiled cotton prefolds and they replace it with a bag of fresh, clean ones that smelled oh so nice! As a very young child, I … [Read more...]

There are so many different types of cloth diapers on the market right now it can be overwhelming. It's easy to think you have to try every new cloth diaper that comes along, but it can be very harmful to your budget. (A big reason I like cloth diapers is because they save me money). When I was starting to build my diaper stash, I really wanted FuzziBunz Pocket Diapers. I chose this brand and style based on reviews I read. I received several of these diapers as baby gifts before the … [Read more...]

Gulf Oil Spill prompts FuzziBunz to start “Cloth for the Coast”!

It has been nearly 3 months since the BP oil spill off the Gulf Coast, and while BP and the federal government have voiced that progress is being made, crude oil continues to pour forth. Communities are gathering to assist with everything from ideas on how to plug the well, to how to clean up the tarnished beaches and the affected wildlife. In steps Cloth For the Coast, a FuzziBunz sponsored drive to accept old cloth diapers (prefold diapers) and any type of diaper inserts - as well as … [Read more...]

The Economical Cloth Diaper

So you want to use cloth diapers? I started cloth diapering to save some money. I liked the fact that using cloth is economical. But when I started shopping around, admiring the cute colors, styles, and prints, I got sticker shock! That's $17.95 for how many diapers? Just one?!?!? If you really want to save the most money while using cloth diapers you need to consider the prefold diaper. Prefolds make up the majority of my stash, and I think they are easy to use and they work … [Read more...]

Disposables to Cloth

When I was growing up I thought the idea of cloth diapering was silly and disgusting. Seriously, why would anyone want to deal with the poo scraping, toilet swishing, diaper pinning, stomach turning stink, cloth diaper washing, and all of the work that comes from cloth diapering? Why not just use disposables and throw the nastiness away? Not have to deal with scraping poo (can I say EWW…) and washing diapers. All you had to do was wrap the nasty poo up inside of the diaper and toss it … [Read more...]

Prefolds are not that scary!

When I was pregnant, my husband and I discussed cloth diapering as a money saving option. At the time we thought the only cloth diapers available were the prefold diapers and rubber pants found at the VERY BOTTOM shelf of the baby section in the local Wal-mart and Target; because we were desperate to save money, we were willing to consider it. When my daughter was born, and I started using the bumGenius! One Size Pocket Diapers, the idea of diapering with prefolds went out the window as I … [Read more...]
